As a nation, we have had a challenging two years. Girl Scout troops across the nation, like most schools, went to virtual learning last year. During last spring, we were finally permitted to have in person meetings.

And now, as the Covid-19 numbers rise again, many Councils are telling leaders to return to the virtual format if they want to be with their troop.

For first year Daisy leaders, this can be daunting, as they do not have the experience from last year to rely on. Add on the challenge of cookie sales, if they chose to do them, and planning virtual meetings is an added stressor.

Since we do not know how long we will be unable to meet in person, I have put together a product that has 10 Virtual Girl Scout Daisy meetings.

With the exception of the orange Daisy petal, which is new, the others are a part of the other Daisy petal products that I have created. Everything you need is included, just let the girls know what they need and your planning is done.

If you have been a Girl Scout leader for any length of time, then you are familiar with the three Girl Scout holidays that are celebrated. On February 22nd of each year, scouts around the world celebrate World Thinking Day.

This scouting year, leaders have another opportunity to celebrate on February 22nd…it is Twos Day!

What is Twos Day?

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the date written numerically is 2/22/22.

If you have a Girl Scout meeting around that time, you can celebrate this once in a lifetime numerical palindrome.

(For those of you not able to meet around that date, you can celebrate 2/2/22, which falls on a Wednesday).

10 Fun Twos Day Activities

In my Teachers Pay Teachers store, I just created a new product to help both teachers and leaders celebrate Twos Day. For leaders, it is cookie season, and life is busy and can be a bit chaotic with sales. Planning a meeting is just one more thing for you to do, and you may not have the time or energy to create something. You may also want to do something that is not related to Girl Scout cookies.

In this resource, there are crafts, games, movement and community service activities. You can do them in person or virtually. If you are doing this virtually, make sure to leave ample time for families to pick up supplies, whether from you or from the store.

This resource is for kindergarten through fifth grade, Daisies through Juniors.

You can find it here on Teachers Pay Teachers.

Please be sure to follow me on TpT so you can receive updates as to when new products are posted.

Are you planning to celebrate Twos Day? If so, what are you doing?

With the weather getting colder in most parts of the country, leaders who have been able to meet in person with their troop may now finding themselves working virtually. There is, of course, a huge difference in the way the two are conducted. It is far easier to keep the girls’ attention when you are meeting in person. With the Thanksgiving holiday season right around the corner, here are some fun things you can do to liven up your in person or virtual meetings.

Before Your Meeting

Before your meeting, give the parents a RSVP date because you need to order items. No RSVP, no fun bag for the meeting. This needs to be made clear to the parents, as I have read on several Facebook posts in various Girl Scout troops that leaders are spending time and money and girls are not showing up or logging in. That depletes your time, your enthusiasm, and your troop bank account.

After you have received your RSVPs for the meeting, put all of the items you will be using in a bag and labeled for each girl. By doing it this way, the girls get what they get and there no complaining should be tolerated because it is handed out randomly. Parents can do porch pick up for the items.

Thanksgiving Sunglasses

This set includes three designs with three of each. They are made of durable cardboard. What a hoot these would be on your virtual or in person meeting!

Thanksgiving Bingo

In your bag, place 1 or 2 Bingo cards for each girl. You can add candy corn for markers as you call each game.

Make Thanksgiving Cards for Family or as a Community Service Project

You can arrange with a local nursing home to deliver Thanksgiving cards your troop made. Use sturdy cardstock so they can stand alone. Use these fall foam stickers to make them pop. Children can write a message on the inside of their card and sign, for safety reasons, only their first name.

These are peel and stick foam stickers that are easy for the girls to use.

Make a Fall Necklace

Another fun activity that can be done in person or virtually is to have your girls create a fall necklace. Provide the elastic in the bag as well as the beads.
