Create Your Own Free Girl Scout Bingo Cards

For those of you who have perused through this blog, you might have seen me mention that I am a teacher and have been once since 1987. Teachers spend a lot of their own money out of pocket, and we make do with as many donated and recycled materials as possible. Being an expert in this area made me stretch those dues my troop collected, as we did not sell cookies.

For new leaders and those who need to stretch you dollars as far as possible, I have found a great site for you. You can make your own Bingo cards here at My Free Bingo Cards.

For Daisy leaders, you can make Bingo cards for the Girl Scout Law. You can also make cards for Cookie Season if you decide to sell them.

I have made several different sets for my Hebrew School classes. I run them off on colored cardstock and store them in a plastic Ziplock bag. I have Bingo chips that I use as markers so the cards can be used again and again. You can make the cards as easy or as difficult as you want. Make sure you run off the calling page and the words that you have used.

You can play this game as a time filler with one child or as teams (sisterhood!). You do not have to give out a prize...I do not. It is just a fun thing to do during a meeting!

Reviewing the Girl Scout Law Craft Idea and Game

It is getting close to the end of the year, and perhaps you want to review that Girl Scout Law with your girls.  A blogger and Daisy leader came up with this craft for an end of the year party.  You may want to do it as part of your final meeting or as one of your last meetings before the summer break.

If you think that you have time, you can also play a game to help reinforce the Girl Scout Law (if not, prep this game and play it at another time...it is awesome!)  The game is free to download, just add your own markers and dice.  You may want to laminate this, as it is an investment.

As an early childhood educator, I can tell you from my twenty-six years of experience that children love to play games.  It is a great learning tool and another way for the girls to bond in their first year as a Girl Scout.

Games are a terrific time filler and are a positive way to end a meeting. When I was a classroom teacher, I always ended the day with a fun game that was also meant to teach. Just as managing my classroom was important so that early finishers could be enriched and not bored, it is equally important to manage your Daisy meetings so that no one gets into trouble because they have nothing to do. Because every girl works at her own pace, and younger girls need extra help with what you have planned, you may find yourself with extra time. Use it to your advantage.

How is a game useful?  If there are pokey girls, they may hurry up so they can play.  They also keep active girls on task.  Your co-leader or you can lead an activity while the others are finishing up. My own troop, who are now Juniors, love to play certain games at the end of a meeting.  As they have gotten older, we have been able to do different kinds of games. They can also lead them now, as they know the rules.

Also, it is in your best interest to overplan your meeting, as having too much to do is better than having ten extra minutes with nothing to do. Games help fill in that gap.
